Creating a routine for your skincare can seem overwhelming. What products should I use and how the heck do I use them? It doesn’t have to be hard!

Let us walk you through the ins and outs of your regimen allowing you to reap the full benefits of each step. Step #1: Pre-Cleanse What is a pre-cleanse? This is the beginning of your evening skin care routine. Use a gentle make-up remover to wash away impurities and make-up from the face and delicate eye area. Step #2: Cleanse Next you will go for a deeper cleanse with a cleanser created for your skin type. Are you oily, dry, combination, acne prone, or aging? Choosing a skin-type specific cleanser is a must! The time to cleanse your skin is in the morning and before bed. Step #3: Exfoliate Exfoliation is essential. Don’t overlook this step. By exfoliating, you will remove dull surface cells and debris to keep skin clear. It also encourages the cell regeneration process and breakup areas of discoloration for brighter skin. The number one reason to exfoliate is it allows your clear skin to absorb the other products more easily, woo-hoo!!! Start by exfoliating once a week in the morning or evening (but not both) and increase if needed to up to five times per week.
Step #4: Mask Time to Mask-up and treat your skin! Masks nourish skin beyond the uppermost layers of the skin. A mask can be used one to three evenings per week. Our lead Esthetician, Kali Wesolowski, says you can remember to Mask by doing Mask Mondays. We offer a variety of Masks, you can use one or multi Mask.
Step #5: Tone It’s tone time! For most of us, our first experience with face toner likely involved very harsh formulas, which left our skin feeling tight and stripped of moisture. Are you imagining good old fashioned, Sea Breeze? That is a thing of the past. Toners have come a long way! Toner can be a prep or primer for the rest of your skincare routine, they even out the porosity of your skin to allow your following products to better absorb. This step is done both morning and night.
Step #6: Antioxidant or Serum
A serum is the ultimate product for transforming your skin. Serum formulations are concentrated and absorb quickly to a deeper level of the skin, delivering active ingredients to target your skin issues. Serums can be used daily; morning and night.
Step #7: Hydrate
It’s time to give your skin a drink. After allowing your serum to sink into your skin, follow it with a nourishing hydrator. Adding a hydrator is an incredibly easy way to give dry or dehydrated skin a moisture boost; but all skin types can benefit from this. Hydrators are lighter than a moisturizer and penetrate further into the skin.
Step #8: Moisturize
Moisturizing is a must for all skincare types. This is done daily in the morning and evening. By moisturizing, you’ll lock in and treat surface dehydration. An area you must not forget; your eyes!!! The skin around your eyes is delicate and thin, it needs the extra love. Be gentle while applying products to your face, especially the eyes. Use gentle fingertip pressure on the face and very soft fingertip taps around the eyes.
Step #9: Protect
You’ve done all the work, now it’s time to protect the skin you live in. Daily application of SPF 15 or higher sunscreen reduces the risk of developing melanoma by 50 percent according to the Skin Cancer Foundation. Don’t just apply it to your face, apply sunscreen to all exposed areas of skin including your chest, neck and the back of your hands each morning.
